Therefore, it was listed into the World Natural Heritage Catalogue by the UNESCO in 1992.

Wutaishan Travel

Wutaishan, or “Mt. Wutai”, means five-terraced mountain and refers to the five flat peaks in the area. Wutaishan is considered the best established of the four Buddhist holy mountains.

It is the holiest of the sacred peaks and is dedicated to Manjushri (or Wenshu Pusa), the Bodhisatva of wisdom and virtue.
